For the 15th year in a row, Cub Scout Pack 188 has earned the Quality Unit Award for 2009!
We are a Quality Unit because of the Great Leaders who volunteer their
time and put such a great effort into this quality program.

It's almost time for Cub Scout Summer Camp!

That means fun!  But, you need to go to orientation before you go to camp to get your camp shirt and take a swimming test.  Generally you can go up the week before he goes to camp on Tuesday night.  Here are the nights when you can go: Tuesday Evenings - June 29, July 6,13,20,27, August 3

Drop in at Camp Wheeler between 5:30 and 7:00 pm


Here is a link to ALL the forms that are REQUIRED for camp.  Please do the orientation the week before your soon goes to camp, so he does not miss out on anything.

Bring all of your completed paperwork (from the link above), a swim suit, towel and non-aerosol bug repellent.  Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear.


New Tour Permit process as of January 1, 2010.  Here are the details and a link to a PDF that you can fill out and save.  You still need to submit 2 weeks prior to trip.  Copy of the new tour permit.

  • Send us your photos!  Send any photos you would like to see posted in our photo gallery to photos@pack188nj.org
  • For information about any Scouting activity that Pack 188 does, drop an email to information@pack188nj.org
  • Great local trip!  Need something to do with your Scouts and want to do some achievements at the same time?  Then visit the Museum of Early Trades in Madison. Here is a link to their web site.  Cost is $8.00 per Scout.  Chaperones are free!  Or you can call to make an appointment - 973-377-2982  Directions are on the web site.
  • Tour Permit - Don't forget to file a tour permit at least 2 weeks before a trip.  Here is a copy of the tour permit that you can download and print to fax over, or you can email back to council.
  • Hiking - is a great way to get your Scout outside.  There are many places to hike local to Roxbury.  Pack 188 also frequents Camp Allamuchy in Stanhope.  Stephens State Park in Hackettstown is great place, Hacklebarney State Park in Long Vally is a great place, Camp Allamuchy has great Historic Sight Hike.  Pack 188 owns a copy of the directions for this hike.  Jockey Hollow in Morristown is also a great hike and qualifies for a cool patch from council.  The Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center is always running programs that Scouters can use for achievments and electives for Scouts.
